National SUMMIT 2010 on a People-Centred Economy: The Women's Economic Council is one of 12 organizations on the Steering Committee. Building a people-centred economy has long been at the heart of cooperative, credit union, social economy and community economic development (CED) movements, along with a broad swath of the non-profit world. All these sectors grew out of the historical struggle against want, impoverishment and deep inequalities.
